Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh today said that Government has prepared a detailed project report for demarcation and fencing of forest land across the State to ensure protection of forests. The Minister said this while addressing the gathering after inspecting Forest Nursery at Nomain village in Katra. Taking serious note of the recent incidents of forest fire in Trikuta hills of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Choudhary Lal Singh asked the concerned officers to take adequate measures to combat forest fire. Divisional Forest Officers have been directed for regular patrolling of forests in their respective areas to identify mischievous elements so that action can be taken against them under the Forest Protection Act. He directed the officers to plant saplings on open chunk of forest land and along Domail Katra road. He said that protection of forests and wildlife should be priority of the department and concerted efforts should be made to save this green treasure . Principal Secretary to Forests Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Prinicipal Chief Conservator of Forests AK Singh besides Divisional Forest Officers of Forests and its allied departments of Reasi and Udhampur districts accompanied the Minister.
