Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Ch. Lal Singh today flagged off the first batch of pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Yatra from Lakhanpur, the entry point of the state. Speaking on the occasion Ch. Lal Singh said that Government has made adequate arrangements for smooth conduct of the Yatra. “Entire State administration is fully geared up to provide adequate facilities like, drinking water, medicare, and security to the Yatris from base camps to the holy cave”, the Minister said. He appealed the people to undertake the yatra only after proper medical checkup and registration. Ch Lal Singh said that adequate steps are being taken for environment protection and exhorted upon the people to avoid use of polythene during the yatra to help achieve the objective of polythene free J&K. District Development Commissioner Kathua, Ramesh Kumar in his welcome address said that district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the yatra. Deputy Commissioner Excise, Additional District Development Commissioner, CEO LSDA, ASP Kathua, besides other senior officers of civil and police were present on the occasion.
