Adv. Sunil Sethi Welcomes Advanced EBUS Facility at GMC Jammu; Calls It a Major Boost to Healthcare Infrastructure in Jammu

Jammu: Senior Advocate and Chief Spokesperson, Bharatiya Janata Party, J&K, Sunil Sethi, has welcomed the introduction of the advanced Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) facility at Chest Diseases Hospital, Government Medical College Jammu, describing it as an important step towards strengthening specialised healthcare and advanced diagnostic facilities in the Jammu region.
Sethi said that the establishment of the EBUS facility, stated to be the first of its kind in the Jammu Division, would significantly benefit patients requiring advanced diagnosis and treatment of respiratory and thoracic diseases. He said that availability of such sophisticated diagnostic technology closer to home would reduce the need for patients and their families to travel outside Jammu for specialised investigations.
He congratulated Principal and Dean GMC Jammu Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, the Department of Respiratory Medicine & Tuberculosis, Chest Diseases Hospital, and the multidisciplinary team of doctors and supporting departments whose coordinated efforts have made the facility operational.
“The introduction of advanced medical technologies in our premier government institutions is a welcome development. Healthcare must continuously evolve so that the latest diagnostic and treatment facilities become accessible to ordinary citizens within their own region,” Sethi said.
He noted that EBUS is particularly useful in the evaluation and diagnosis of diseases involving the lungs, airways and lymph nodes and can play an important role in the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer and other thoracic conditions. Its minimally invasive nature can also help appropriately selected patients avoid more invasive diagnostic procedures.
Sethi said that Jammu has witnessed a significant expansion of healthcare infrastructure and specialised medical services in recent years and stressed that the emphasis must remain on modern technology, trained manpower, accessibility and affordable patient care.
“The ultimate test of development in the health sector is whether a patient can obtain quality treatment near his or her home without being compelled to travel hundreds of kilometres. Every new specialised facility which takes healthcare closer to the people deserves appreciation and encouragement,” he said.
He further appreciated the doctors and healthcare professionals of GMC Jammu and Chest Diseases Hospital for continuously upgrading their skills and introducing contemporary medical procedures for the benefit of patients.
Sethi expressed hope that GMC Jammu would continue to introduce advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies across different specialties and emerge as an increasingly important centre of excellence for healthcare in North India.
