A one day seed village training camp-cum kissan Mela was organized at village Salawali (phallawalla), Akhnoor by the Directorate of Agriculture , Jammu under the able guidance of Chief Agriculture Officer , Jammu R.L. Bhagat.
Daljit Singh Chib,(MoS) , Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for development of Kisans was the Chief Guest on the Occasion and Dr. KrishanLalBhagat, Hon’ble MLA Chamb was the Guest of Honour. All the wings of Agriculture and allied departments Mahider Singh (ADO, Vegetables, Jammu) ShriSoomNath Sharma (SDAO, Akhnoor) along with the field functionaries of Akhnoor Sub Division were also present in the camp.
The gathering was specially addressed by Daljit Singh Chib and advised the farming community to take maximum benefits of the various farmer friendly schemes launched by the State and Central government and use the latest agriculture technologies for boosting their crop production. HeStressed on the quality seeds which are going to be provided to the farmers.He said that the Government has recently launched Fasal Bima Yogna and every farmer should take the advantage of this yogna.
Krishan Lal Bhagat also spoke on the occasion and advised the farmers that Agro based industry has tremendous potential for employment generation which needs to be exploited through Entrepreneurship Development initiatives kick started by the present Government. He stated that the scientists and other Officers of the Agriculture Universities must speed up the activities and produce quality seeds and evolve techniques which would help the farmers in boosting their production.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu also spoke on the occasion and stressed upon the farmers to use the agriculture approved seeds and fertilizers only which will give boost to the agriculture in Jammu .He said that these seeds and fertilizers are being tested at various levels before distributing to the farmers.
A large number of progressive farmers about 400 participated in the camp.
Besides others prominent farmers ShriNika Ram ,Ex.Sarpanch, ShriNitu Ram, ShriSwaran Singh, Shri G.S. Chib, Ankus Choudhary, and Surinder Singh (Members KisanAdv.Board were also present on the occasion.
