Ministers ask JU to resume classwork immediately
The Government has asked the Jammu University to immediately restart the class work for the students of University Institute of Engineering Technology at the varsity campus to avoid loss of their studies.
“There will be no compromise on the career of the students and I will personally oversee the functioning of UIET. The Government will go out of way to provide every concession for the children” Altaf Bukhari said here at a high-level meeting chaired by him to review the issues concerning the newly established Engineering institute.
The Minister of state for Education, Priya Sethi Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, R D Sharma, Principal Secretary Higher Education, Dr Asgar Samoon, Register JU MenakshiKelam attended the meeting in presence of a group of students and parents, who called on the Education Minister here today.
“The UIET will continue to function at Jammu University Campus Jammu as a constituent college of the Varsity and the class work should be resumed immediately purely in the interest of academic career of the students for the current session” the meeting decided.
The Minister further asked the Jammu University to hire a building in future to meet the accommodation needs till the permanent building is established.
However, it was resolved that the decision for the establishment of permanent campus of UIET shall be taken separately in a meeting scheduled on March 6, 2018 to be chaired by the Chancellor of the University of Jammu.
Meanwhile, the Minister assured the students of every support from him and added “We will go out of way to provide every concession to the children”, he asserted.
Altaf Bukhari assured to provide all required financial support for infrastructure, faculty and other staff to the University for running the institute. He asked the JU to submit detailed proposal for the same to be taken up with the planning department.
