BJP Jammu District Mahila Morcha District President, Rekha Mahajan, along with her District team visited Kusht Ashram (Leprosy Home) in Bhagwati Nagar area of Jammu city, to celebrate the 93rd birthday of former Prime Minister of India, Atal Behari Vajpayee and prayed for his good health.
Rekha Mahajan and her team members, distributed clothes, sweets and fruits among the Ashram inmates, interacted with them and also enquired about their welfare.
This day is also celebrated as “Good Governance Day” across the country.
Atal Behari Vajpayee, who served the world’s largest democracy, the India, as its tenth Prime Minister, was the founder member of Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He also has the distinction of being elected ten times as a Member of Lok Sabha, two times Member of Rajya Sabha besides leader of Opposition. He has been conferred with Bharat Ratna, the highest Civilian Award, by the President of India in the year 2015. The country needed his services for long but due to poor health, he retired from active politics few years ago.
Rekha Mahajan, on this occasion, emphasized upon the Civil Society Members of Jammu to be sympathetic towards the people living in Kusht Ashram and said that this is our social responsibility to reach out them in whatever way we can.
“Our interaction with these people will go a long way in removing the stigma of these friends who feel as being treated untouchables”, said Rekha Mahajan.
