To ensure the safety of its citizens is the responsibility of every government and they cannot be left to fend for themselves when our hostile neighbour is hell bent to repeatedly target civilian areas close to the IB/LOC in violation of all international conventions/norms stated Brig Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party, in a press release issued by the Party. It is to meet this onerous responsibility that Government of India has sanctioned 415.73 crore for construction of bunkers for the security of people residing on the IB/LOC. In fact, this was a long pending demand of hapless border dwellers. The bunkers are needed to provide immediate shelter in case of hostile firing to minimise causalities and loss to life said Brig Gupta.
It is unfortunate that an impression is being created that the construction of bunkers will hamper the development of these areas rued Brig Gupta. The construction of bunkers in no way will affect the overall development of these areas as development is a continuous process and the sustained development of border areas is a major thrust of Modi government. Apart from many centrally funded schemes, the development of infrastructure for transport, health, education and tourism is already under execution and will continue to be executed along with construction of Bunkers. Frequent ceasefire violations are done deliberately by Pakistan to cause fear and panic among the border dwellers so that they vacate those areas but the Government is determined to beat the nefarious design of the enemy and boost the morale of our valiant border dwellers said Brig Gupta.
Construction of bunkers will also ensure that need to occupy school buildings as relief camps will be minimised thus ensuring that the education of the children is not hampered. Frequent disruption in education has been a major cause of worry among the parents resulting in migration from the border areas. The bunkers will also provide security to the border residents in case of surprise NBC attack by our hostile neighbour which has always been threatening the use of tactical nuclear weapons read the statement. The statement also highlighted the genuine concern of Modi government for the welfare of border dwellers by sanctioning much higher rates of relief for damages/losses suffered by them due to hostile firing. Bharatiya Janata Party has recommended to the government that the benefit of reservation in government jobs and admission to professional colleges should also be provided to the residents of three districts on IB namely Kathua, Samba and Jammu in the same manner as provided to the LOC residents and hopes that CM Mehbooba Mufti who is also the Home Minister will respond favourably said Brig Gupta.
