A one month training program in “ Value Addition of Fruits & Vegetables” namely “ SAKHI & SAHELI ” for females “ was organized by the Social Welfare Department, I.C.D.S Project R.S Pura in collaboration with the Horticulture Department. Dr. Gagan Bhagat M.L.A from R.S Pura Constituency was the chief guest on the occasion , while addressing the gathering he thanked the Department of Horticulture and ICDS Project R.S Pura for taking such initiative in R.S Pura Constituency on his recommendation for the females .He further said that such type of programs benefit the deserving population , and this is the basic ideology of Bharatiya Janta Party.The main Objective of this scheme is to give training of all aspects of food processing industry to unemployed youths for entrepreneurship development in food processing sector and to encourage them to establish their own food processing units so they get a source of income of their own besides generating employment in this sector. The objective of this training is to provide self-employment, to reduce post – harvest losses and to provide fair price to farmers and growers of their produce. As R.S Pura is known for Basmati Cultivation, due to availability of large agricultural land these type of innovational steps will surely benefit the farmer community added Dr. Gagan Bhagat. He appealed to the females to come forward as promised by the party that development will come to their door steps, and this type of programs surely give a chance to the people who sincerely want to do something for the society. The physical targets are set, for government community fruit preservation and training centers in each districts, in proportion to the funds provided in budget and number of employees available at centers said the Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department who was himself present during the training camp. Dr. Gagan Bhagat maintained that such type of camps will be organized at village levels as the department’s response is quite positive and with the support of Social Welfare and other departments we can together surely bring a big change in the whole of R.S Pura Constituency. CDPO R.S Pura assured his and his departments cooperation to Dr. Gagan Bhagat in the initiative. Dr. Gagan Bhagat informed the gathering that very soon Skill Up-gradation Training Program (SUTP) will be started at R.S Pura which will surely make a significant impact on condition of youth by upgrading skills for income generation which may lead to self employment venture. The sequence of activities envisaged under the program is to mobilize youth into viable groups, improve their skills, arrange for support services, provides awareness and education on the key focus areas, etc. The program will not only aims at imparting training for upgrading skills to enhance income of beneficiaries but also provides awareness and education on the key focus areas. Prominent among those who were present included Dy.Director Horticulture Department Mohd. Sayeed, CDPO R.S Pura S. Jasmeet Singh,BJP R.S Pura Mandal Pradhan Natharam, BJP City President Inder Sudan, prominent persons of the civil society besides females from villages in R.S Pura Constituency.
