Member Legislative Council Rajouri Vibodh Gupta, visited the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) at Rajouri and interacted with the emerging entrepreneurs, where they were attending, “three-week Entrepreneurship Development Programme” (EDP) under Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SCFS) and Youth Start-Up Loan Scheme (YSLS). Around 60 candidates along with their programme coordinators were present there and attending the programme. Gupta in his address said that JKEDI is the only viable option to tackle increasing unemployment in the state. He said J&K in general and Rajouri district in particular, has tremendous potential in horticulture, agriculture and allied sectors, wherein educated unemployed youth can set up their entrepreneurial ventures with the support from the government.
Gupta said that Rajouri District is having Tourism potential and Mughal road, which connects Jammu region to Kashmir region has also opened a gate of business opportunities for young entrepreneurs. New units like Ice Cream, Restaurants, Hotels, cafes etc can be established with the financial assistance form JKEDI and our unemployed youth must take benefit from these schemes. Gupta stressed upon the government’s agenda, which is to strengthen the nation and also to make India, “independent” in all the sectors. Gupta asked the programme Coordinators that these training programmes should aim at providing enterprise-led livelihoods, sectoral exposure, financial and market linkage, hand holding and mentoring support to young entrepreneurs. Gupta showed his satisfaction regarding the facilities available at JKEDI for training, aspiring entrepreneurs, who in turn can provide employment opportunities to others as well. Gupta discussed various business activities with the aspirants. He also talked to them regarding their proposed business ventures, assuring them all possible support to make their projects successful. He said that Govt. is committed to offer all possible support to the young entrepreneurs and will explore more options for them.
Programme coordinator JKEDI Rajouri Mr. Aijaz Ahmed, briefed the MLC, about the Institute, its working and mandate. He also informed that, that these EDPs are modeled for manufacturing, services and Agri-allied sectors and the chosen various activities to start their entrepreneurial journey. During the EDPs the candidates are motivated to be job providers than job seekers.
Dinesh Sharma, District president BJP and a prominent citizen of the area also accompanied the MLC and in his speech said that JKEDI is providing a platform to entrepreneurs, to enable them to set up their ventures through a host of services like consultancy, information, training, education and finance. He asked the youth to take proper advantage of various entrepreneurship development schemes being implemented by the institute so that the problem of unemployment in Rajouri district can be addressed.

Manzoor Hussain Programme coordinator thanked the legislator for visiting their Training centre and said that Mr. Gupta is the First legislator who visited their Training centre since its inception in Rajouri district and his move shall be inspirational for the Trainees.
