BJP State President & MLA Sh. Sat Sharma (C.A) alongwith Former Union Minister & BJP Law & Legal Affairs Department National Convenor Jagdeep Dhankar, MoS Law & Parliamentary Affairs, J&K Ajay Nanda, senior advocate of J&K High Court Sunil Sethi, State Convenor Onkar Seth, inaugurated ‘One day convention’ organized by Law & Legal Affairs Department of the BJP at Trikuta Nagar office on Saturday. It was attended by over 300 prominent advocates drawn from all the regions of the state.
It was followed by recitation of Vande Matram by Ajay Kumar. The leaders on the stage were also presented bouquets as a token of respect.
Sat Sharma said that the party has set up Law & Legal Affairs Department at the national level and in the states too. The party is of the view that a major chunk of the Indian population belongs to the Intellectuals, Doctors, Engineers, Advocates, CAs and so on and hence their services can be availed for the benefit of the party as well as society.
Jagdeep Dhankhar said that the motive of the Law & Legal Affairs Department is to provide equal justice in social, economic and political fields. The party’s slogan of one booth one lawyer is based on the concept that no organization or class can progress and succeed until it do not carry along the Intelligentia class, including the law knowing people. He said that the contribution of lawyers can mobilize more and more people of legal fraternity to get associated with BJP.
Onkar Seth, in his welcome address, introduced the VIPs and Guests. He said that the advocates are important people and part and parcel of the society, who play significant role in serving the nation and its people.
Ajay Nanda highlighted the various welfare schemes launched by the PM Narendra Modi during the last two years for the benefit of the needy and poor. He also spoke on the role of lawyers in formulation of various acts and laws.
Sunil Sethi, who was the main speaker spoke on various aspects of judicial activism with special focus on advantages and disadvantages of various provisions of the Constitution, which are many a times misinterpreted for setting personal scores or for the sake of gaining cheep publicity.
National Co-Convenor Aishwarya Bhatti enlightened the lawyers on “National Judicial Commission”.
Supreme Court Lawyer Archana Pathak Deve Spoke on the “Organizational structure of Law & Legal Affairs Department” of the BJP.
Abhinav Sharma, President J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, spoke on Freedom of Speech and expression. He elaborated that freedom does not mean that one is at liberty to utter any word which is against the law of the land or against the unity and integrity of the country.
Proceedings of the convention were conducted by State Co-Convenors Rajesh Thappa and Adarsh Kumar Bhagat.
Vote of thanks was presented by State Co-Convenors S. Amrik Singh and Radhey Sham Sharma.
Advocate Hunar Gupta and his colleagues Sundeep Singh, Vikas Pankaj Sharma, Veena, Leena, Amit Singh Manhas, VArun Kotwal, Prem Sadotra, Bharat Singh Jamwal, Naresh Raina extended their cooperation in organizing the convention.
