In order to give impetus to the ongoing development works of Gandhi Nagar Constituency, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta today inspected development works undertaken by JMC, UEED, PWD(R&B), PHE and other departments.
The Speaker was accompanied by SDM South, Sonu Pargal; Tehsildar, Jammu South, Sheshpal; XEN, PWD(R&B), Rajan Mengi; XEN, JMC, S.K Wali; XEN, UEED, Rajan Sharma; XEN, PHE, V.K Khajuria; SDPO South, Rafiq Manhas; CTO, JMC, Talat Mehmood along with field staff of these departments.
He visited Nai Basti, Satwari, Gangyal, Kunjwani, Digiana, Channi Himmat, Chowadi and inspected ongoing deep drainage works, construction of Nallahs, Construction of Sub ways along with road widening work on Satwari-Kunjwani road.
The officers apprised him that initially few encroachments were creating hindrance for the execution of work on Nai Basti Nallah starting from the Nai Basti-Satwari Road and passing through the main Nai Basti Bazar but they have been taken care off with the help of police and enforcement wing of JMC.
The Speaker said that the government is making all out efforts to provide basic amenities to the people across the state and directed the engineers of drainage and PWD(R&B) to ensure the completion of all these projects in a time bound manner and ensure the quality of work.
During his visit, several delegations called upon him and came forward with many new ideas for streamlining the development activities in the area in addition to few demands.
The Speaker urged the locals to protect the public property in their respective areas, adding that these assets are meant for their convenience and need to be protected.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that more than 100 crores have been earmarked for improving the drainage scenario of the Gandhi Nagar Constituency and the work is going on in full swing.
He further said that DPR’s for improving the deep drainage system of Bilal Colony-Pamposh Colony-Channi Rama and Chowadi-Sector B of Sainik Colony have been prepared amounting to 45 crores and the work will be started within a month or two.
The Speaker informed that more than 400 kms of road length have been blacktopped in Gandhi Nagar Constituency by PWD(R&B) and work for laying of tiles have been expedited by JMC; also an amount of Rs 30 lakhs have been sanctioned for each municipal ward for carrying out the emergency works.
