Government College of Education in collaboration with Indian Art Centre organized a painting exhibition and prize distribution function which was inaugurated by BJP State President & MLA Jammu West as Chief Guest. Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal Government College of Education, Canal Road, Jammu, BJP District President, Jammu West, Ayodhya Gupta and BJP senior leader Ajay Pargal were guest of Honour.
Sat Sharma, after witnessing the exhibition, said that a continuous effort is needed to conserve and project the culture and heritage of the State. He said that fine arts form a way to aware the generations of the rich heritage their forefathers used to follow and thus it is duty of everyone to contribute in the same. He said that these also help in realization of ownself as this act as mirror to scrutinize oneself and channelizing their energies for the constructive purposes. He claimed that the state of Jammu and Kashmir has very rich cultural heritage but during the recent centuries, it was not conserved properly, but now every possible step is being taken by the coalition government to fill in the void. He also lauded the effort of students and artists for their keen interest in the cause.
Ajay Pargal said that in today’s time it is very much necessary for the youth to indulge themselves into some useful and innovative activities instead of going towards wrong and bad evils of the society and for this reason he congratulates Mr. Wadhera for his wonderful job by providing a platform to the youth where they can learn about art.
The programme displayed the Indian miniature art which is purely indigenous to J&K particularly native to Basholi. The Indian Art centre under the able guidance of Chief Artist M. K. Wadera is promoting and popularizing this art under the patronage of Ch. Lal Singh Hon’ble minister for forest and Environment J&K State. The paintings of students from different institutions were displayed in the exhibition and were adjudged and awarded by a team of connoisseurs. Later a training Camp shall also be organized for the students of Government college of Education.
The programme was witnessed by the students and faculty of the college and help in the organization of the programme was extended by the college skill development cell. Sanjeev Sharma, Jeet Angral, Puneet Mahajan, Veena Gupta, Keshav Chopra, Ashish Sharma, Asha Sharma, Atul Bakshi, Dr. Rupinder Kour, Dr. Probhjot Kour, Prof. Seema Kumari, Prof. Shapian Shameem Bhatti, Prof.Neeraj Verma and others were among the prominent persons present in the programme.
