The State BJP salutes the people who laid down their lives in 1947 while resisting and fighting Pak sent tribal raiders into J&K. Fighting very bravely against these tribal raiders who entered J&K at Muzaffarabad on October 22, 1947 with either no arms or with vintage weaponry, the civilians as well as army of the State had setup a glowing example of valour. The BJP is going to mark these sacrifices by holding various programmes at various levels. This was stated by BJP State General Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh while addressing media persons at party office along with State Spokesperson Brig. Anil Gupta and Balbir Ram Rattan and BJP Sharnarthi Cell State Convenor Pt. Ashok Kumar Khajuria. He further added that these sacrifices of the brave people are being commemorated by holding programmes by party activists at different levels.
Dr. Narinder Singh elaborated that as a first reaction to this attack, the local populace resisted the Tribal Raiders to save their state and honour and lives of their women and children. In the process thousands of Hindus and Sikhs got dislodged from their houses and lost their properties to arson at the hands of these Pak controlled and commanded Tribal Raiders who also looted the local residents and killed mercilessly in cold blood many of them. Some were burnt alive. With only a hand full of soldiers under the command of Brig. Rajinder Singh the raiders were resisted ferociously along the Muzaffarabad-Uri-Srinagar route and were ultimately martyred and delayed their advance and thus prevented fall of Sriangar. After the arrival of the Indian Army on October 27, 1947 with the signing of the instrument of accession by Maharaja Hari Singh acceding the state with Union of India, the dark period for the state came to an end.
On all fronts in Poonch, Rajouri, Mirpur, Jhanger, Nowshera in Jammu province and Kupwara, Teethwal, Baramulla, Shopian in the Kashmir valley, open massacre of civilian, Hindu and Sikh populace executed by Tirbal raiders was more than 50,000.
Dr. Narinder Singh also said that the BJP has been expressing its concern over the sufferings of PoJK displaced people who are living under sub human conditions in refugee camps since 1947 as if in exile in their own state.
Brig. Anil Gupta, on this occasion, announced that the department of policy research of State BJP will organize a seminar on ‘Accession Day’ titled “Accession of J&K to India is full & final” and a battery of intellectuals to address different session.
Balbir Ram Rattan informed that the party will organize programmes on October 27 and Nov. 03 in memories of Brig. Rajinder Singh and Major Somnath Sharma respectively, wherein tributes will be paid to them and programmes at district and mandal levels will be organize.
Similarly, Pt. Ashok Kumar Khajuria stressed upon the state government to expedite the process of distribution of Rs. 2000 crore package to the PoJK displaced families.
