Family members of the farmer of State, Chamel Singh visited BJP State Office, Trikuta Nagar, who was brutally murdered inside a jail in Pakistan in January 2013, to convey their thanks to BJP State President & MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma for his continuous efforts for their case at various levels.
Kamlesh Devi, widow of Chamel Singh, with her sons along with other family members was told that a compensation of rupees five lakhs has been transferred into her account and appointment letter issued in favour of the elder son of Late Chamel Singh. She said that they are very thankful for the timely help rendered to them by the BJP and its leaders. They particularly expressed their gratitude to Sat Sharma, who took personal interest in the case from the day first. They said that it is due to the efforts of BJP, that his mortal remains were procured and they were able to take up the rites of the deceased according to the customary rituals. They alleged that the then Congress Government at the Centre as well as the Congress-NC government in the State did nothing in the matter. They also requested Sat Sharma to recommend the status of Martyr for Chamel Singh.
Sat Sharma, while speaking on the occasion, said that BJP is committed to the welfare of the people and it will never compromise on any issue related to the integrity of the Humanism and Nationalism. He claimed that, what he or other party leaders did, was just human duty always dedicate followed by the cadre of BJP working on the principle of “Nation First, Self Last”. He said that the delay in providing relief and job to the member of the family was due to the non-cooperative attitude of the previous Governments but the present BJP-PDP coalition government came forward to understand the need to provide monetary benefit and job to the family member. He added that the party is continuously in touch with the Central Government and it is expected that soon the benefits from the side of Centre will be provided to the family.
