MLA Nowshera Ravinder Raina met with the Chief Secretary BR Sharma and apprised him about the severe losses to the Crops due to heavy rain and hailstorms in Sunderbani-Nowshera area of district Rajouri and demanded immediate relief to the farmers. During the meeting at Civil Secretariat-Jammu, Raina handed over a memorandum and also briefed the Chief Secretary that due to heavy rain and hailstorms from March 14 to March 19, the standing crops including Wheat, seasonal vegetables, fruit plants and mulberry trees completely destroyed as most of the crops remained buried in hailstorms for two days.
Raina further briefed the Chief Secretary that almost all the Villages of Nowshera & Sunderbani are badly affected due to heavy rain and hailstorms, especially the areas namely Beripattan, Kangri, Thicka, Bajabai, Thanger, Meenka-Mahadev, Nah, Pelli-Phal, Kalde, Talla Tanda, Saleri Tanda, Chaknobad, Bhajwal, Banpuri, Thandapani, Mawa-Patrara, Bakhar, Balshama, Siot, Nalla-Makol, Devek, Hathal, Bhambliya-Una, Thangrote, Seri-Sayal, Mangote, Dabbar-Dharat, Gagrote & Kalal areas are the worst affected of this calamity, where alongwith crops so many people have lost their houses and many milch cattles died of it. He further said the whole area depends on agriculture and due to the present losses the farmers are in deep dilemma as there is no ray of hope is left for them. Due to heavy rain many of the areas. MLA Raina demanded immediate relief to the affected people of Nowshera and Sunderbani including free ration for Six months, financial assistance including compensation to the vegetable growers those suffered losses in lacs, fruits and Cocoon growers as well. Chief Secretary immediately saught report from the DDC Rajouri and assured the MLA that all possible steps would be taken to provide relief to the affected farmers.
