BJP Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shamsher Singh Manhas, while chairing a workshop of party District and Mandal Presidents, General Secretaries alongwith Morcha District Presidents, stressed upon them to reach the public and help in availing the benefits of centrally sponsored schemes. He said that the PM Narendra Modi has launched various schemes with a motive of economic and social empowerment of the poor and weaker sections. “PM Ujwala Yojana (PMUY) is one such major scheme for the benefit of the BPL ration card holders across the country”, Manhas said and added that in Jammu & Kashmir also this scheme is being extended to the deserving people. He said that anyone whose names figures in 2011 census, can be the beneficiary. He said that a major population of the India society lives under BPL category and can’t even have the gas connection and this scheme will prove to be revolutionary for them. He asked that if any complaint related to implementation of the scheme is noticed, it should be immediately taken up with the concerned authorities so that the genuinely deserving people are not deprived of the scheme.
BJP State Addl. Media Secretary Rakesh Mahajan, who has been designated as the state Incharge of PMUY, while giving presentation on the scheme and various related formalities, said that it is a very innovative scheme which has been formulated keeping in mind the problems being faced by womenfolk in particular. He said that the PM is very keen to ensure that the rural women, who has to suffer on account of smoke from traditional desi chullah, are provided relief and they will not have to suffer from diseases caused by the smoke and dust. He said that the party activists are being educated about the details of the scheme and each one of them has to devote time for this noble cause.
BJP State Secretary Sanjay Baru and State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan were also present on the occasion.
