On Wednesday the torrential rains that lashed have created havoc across R.S Pura turning the situation grimmer in Jammu District which started late yesterday night. Dr.Gagan Bhagat sitting Legislator from R.S Pura Assembly segment today visited the water logged areas of his constituency to take stock of the situation. During his day long tour to the waterlogged areas in the municipal wards as well as border villages he interacted with the locals and assured them of all possible help. Later on along with all the sub-district officials Dr.Gagan he held a meeting to assess the gravity of the situation so that relief and rehabilitation measures should be started at the earliest for the affected families. The Legislator visited worst-hit Nari Niketan and Bal Ashram and interacted with the inmates , and gave a patient hearing to the grievances to the inmates and the local residents of waterlogged and choked areas and issued on the spot directions to the S.D.M, Tehsildaar and the administration, he also directed them to provide pre-fabricated structures to the people who were living in kuccha houses, as due to the rains those houses got completely damaged. He also asked the administration to ensure disbursement of relief cheques within shortest possible time. At ward No.12, Shiv Nagar Dr.Gagan Bhagat himself inspected the ongoing relief and dewatering works , he met with the local inhabitants and also visited the houses of the affected families there. The Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control also apprised the Legislator about the status of ongoing relief works. The E.O Municipal Committee R.S Pura also dismantled some illegal structure raised by some persons in the area, and decongested the area, he also apprised the M.L.A R.S Pura that soon a drive will be taken out in the R.S Pura town especially in the area around the large drain to dismantle the illegal constructions which is the primary root cause of the water logging. Dr.Gagan Bhagat while talking to the media persons said that he will try to visit every place, village and house of the affected families and had informed the Dy.C.M about the problem of water logging in the Municipal wards of R.S Pura, he also informed that Rs.40 Lacs was sanctioned on his request for the problem of Water logging in the R.S Pura Town and as the condition in the Summer capital is not improved yet which has hampered the working in the Civil Secretariat , due to which the work which was to be started early in this month’s was not started, and later on it was decided that the said work will be done by the department of Flood Control , he also assured that very soon the said fund will be utilized for effective drainage system in the town. He appealed to the general public to abstain the use of Polythene as it is the main cause of water logging in the small and large drainage channels , he has also moved a resolution in the last assembly session regarding Banning of Polythene, on which the concerned Minister assured him that the polythene that is coming from outside the state will be completely banned and in stepwise manner the use and sale of Polythene in the state will be completely stopped.SDM R.S Pura, Tehsildaar R.S Pura, DySP R.S Pura, SHO R.S Pura, CDPO R.S Pura, TSWO R.S Pura, EO R.S Pura, AEE Flood Control, AEE Town Drainage, Natharam, Inder Sudan,Bishan Dass, Manmohan,and other accompanied the M.L.A R.S Pura.
