POF holds interaction with Kavinder, discusses public issues

Public Opinion Forum (POF) here today held interaction with Assembly Speaker, Kavinder Gupta to highlight the difficulties being faced by the citizens of Gandhi Nagar Constituency and suggested remedial measures to mitigate the grievances of the residents. Soon after the formal welcome by president of the POF, Parveen Sharma, Kavinder Gupta informed the gathering about various development measures being initiated in the wide spread constituency. Expressing his concern over selective development works constructed during previous regime especially in Nanak Nagar localities, Kavinder Gupta said that clearly visible encroachments are being removed to allow the free flow of water during rainy season. He also advocated for early elections of the local bodies. “Since Municipal Corporation (MC) plays an important role in mitigating the day to day problems of the residents, there should be early elections for the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). There exists lack of coordination among various agencies involved in providing civic amenities, including PWD, JMC and Housing Corporation,” said Kavinder Gupta. Highlighting their grievances, the gathering apprehend that in the times to come Gandhi Nagar area is definitely going to face a big challenge with regard to parking space in the residential colony, especially in the wake of growing commercialization. A couple of suggestions were also given to the visiting MLA in this regard. Lack of maintenance of public parks in Sainik Colony and Channi areas of the city were also highlighted. The MLA was asked to address the ever growing power curtailment problem in the Constituency by directing the concerned officers to chalk out schedule in such a manner so as to minimize the curtailment. Mr Gupta assured that he will do his level best in creating some parking space around Channi Cremation ground and would look into proper development in another such space in Shastri Nagar area of his constituency.
