BJP State Spokesperson, Prof. Virender Gupta strongly condemned the statement of Congress senior leader & former JKPCC President Saif-ud-Din Soz advocating for restoring 1953 position and simultaneously pleading for implementation of four point formula as suggested by former Pakistan President “Pervez Musharraf or Manmohan Singh-Musharraf four point formula” as a solution to Kashmir issue with fine tuned to the present needs of the stakeholders. He also ridiculed Soz statement that fight against terrorism should be fought democratically and deliberation should be held with all the stake holders including the separatists and Hurriyat leaders and asking to give due respect to Hurriyat leadership. He said that challenge of militancy and terrorism that too sponsored by foreign country as an instrument to wage proxy war cannot be met by democratic means and by holding negotiations, and those who are engaged in breaking the country cannot be respected.
Prof. Virender Gupta was also critical of Ghulam Nabi Azad claim that all the wisdom to resolve Jammu and Kashmir issue lies with him and his assertion that “so for I don’t see a single initiative which is taken by the Government and all credits goes to opposition for all the initiatives taken to bring back normalcy in Kashmir”. He asked Azad that what was Congress doing when it was in power in the state and at the Centre? Why did he fail to control the situation in 2008 and when circumstances compelled him to resign as Chief Minister of the state and why did the situation in J&K took ugly turn during Congress regime in 1990 and 2010? The spokesperson said that BJP is well conversant with the Jammu & Kashmir problem right from the days of Jana Sangh and added that people still appreciate the Jammu & Kashmir policy of NDA Govt. during Vajpayee’s leadership.
Prof. Virender Gupta blamed Azad and other Congress leaders for issuing provocative statements in the charged atmosphere and sometimes raising the issues which are against the interests of the country and the government. He cautioned the Congress as well other leaders of opposition parties against overlooking the interests and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions and the majority peace loving and pro-India population of the valley and pressurizing the government for taking steps to yield before the separatists and pro-Pak elements as these may lead to the dangerous consequences.
The pre-1953 position and four point Musharraf-Manmohan Singh formula as being suggested by Soz would not be acceptable to the majority population of the state and warned that these proposals of Congress party or National Conference shall be dangerous for the integrity of the country and break Jammu and Kashmir State into different political units. He said that people of Jammu region and that of Ladakh are opposed to, such like solution and shall resist vigorously and violently to any such move. He further added that Congress party shall further lose its ground in Jammu and Ladakh regions, which are considered as its so called strong pockets.
