PMSMA is a great boon for women: Rekha

Pradhanmantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) is a great initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government at the Centre to give quality antenatal care to pregnant women. The pregnant ladies will be given free health checkups and required treatment free on 9th of every month in all Govt. hospitals across the country, said Rekha Mahajan, President BJP Mahila Morcha District Jammu, in a meeting held at party office Kachi Chawni, Jammu.

         Speaking on the occasion, Rekha Mahajan elaborated that women, who are pregnant for three months to six months, will be eligible to avail free check up. This scheme was launched on June 9 this year with an objective of boosting the health care facilities for the pregnant women, especially those from backward classes and rural areas as these women remain uneducated about their health throughout their pregnancy. She said that pregnancy is a time when women are prone to various kinds of diseases and health issues such as blood pressure, high sugar, various infections and harmonial diseases.

“Under the PMSMA, several tests including blood pressure, sugar level, weight, haemoglobin test, blood test and screening will be done at designated Health Centres in each District of J&K”, Rekha said and further told that in Jammu these health facilities are available at SMGS, Government medical college Jammu, Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Govt.  Hospital Sarwal and at various community health centres.

    Rekha Mahajan also informed the women activists present in the meeting  about the newly launched Mobile App and website of Bharatiya Janata Party i.e “BJP4JNK ” and “wwwbjp4jnk.org”. She said that this is a great platform where even a common man of Jammu and Kashmir can project demands of his area or locality. These demands may include need of development works or augmenting the pace of ongoing projects. She told her team to go to public and make them aware about this App so that they can avail benefits from this platform as well.

State Secretary Neeru Anand, District General Secretary Savita Anand, Raksha Zeerath, Sharda Devi, Saroj, Geeta Bassa, Surinder Kour, Neha Gupta, Surekha, Manju Devi, Sanjana Singal and others were present in the meeting.
