Minister of State for Transport, Sunil Kumar Sharma, today chaired 74th Board of Directors meeting of J&K SRTC to review its overall functioning.
Financial Commissioner, Planning & Development and Monitoring, B B Vyas, Commissioner Secretary, Transport, Bipul Pathak, Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Hridesh Kumar, Transport Commissioner, Parvaiz Iqbal Khateeb, Managing Director, J&K SRTC, G.A Sofi and various officers from R&B, Finance and Transport Department participated in the meeting.
The meeting was informed that income generating capacity of the Corporation has increased significantly during the last one year. Various measures are also being taken to implement employees’ welfare schemes.
The Minister was informed that the Corporation has introduced super luxury buses and special bus service for women. The meeting was also informed that SRTC will induct new trucks by availing loans from financial institutes in coming days.
The Minister appreciated the efforts of the Corporation for providing hassle free transport services for Amarnath Yatries besides providing bus services for NEET, JKCET and IAS aspirants from various districts to their examination centers. He added that the department has done a commendable job by ensuring smooth transportation of essential commodities on National Highway during recent times.
The Minister stressed on the need to adopt innovative ideas for improving and streamlining functioning of the Corporation. He said the Corporation in addition of providing better and efficient transport facilities to the public should also bring efficiency and transparency in its working.
