AIIMS Jammu is a reality: Brig Gupta

Certain vested interests are trying to create anti-government sentiments in Jammu region by issuing misleading and factually incorrect statements stated Brig. Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Reacting to a report published in a leading daily wherein it has been accused that the government has yet to acquire land for AIIMS, Brig Gupta clarified that the statement is motivated and a brazen attempt to malign the state government. The state Health Minister Bali Bhagat is taking personal interest to ensure that the promise made to the people of Jammu by Bharatiya Janata Party is fulfilled and the people of Jammu region are provided best health care facilities.

Brig Gupta said that AIIMS is not an eye wash (as alleged in the news report) but a reality. Prime Minister had announced development package for Jammu & Kashmir on 7th November, 2015 which included creation of 2 AIIMS like institutions for health care in capital cities of J&K.
The sites at Vijaypur in Samba district in Jammu region and at Awantipora, Pulwama in the Kashmir region have been finalized for the establishment of AIIMS in Jammu division & Kashmir division of J&K.
CPWD has been appointed as the agency for the Construction work of these new AIIMS in the State, informed Brig Gupta. He further said that
Pre-investment work has also been started at the site.
Draft EFC Memo had been prepared to obtain approval of Rs 1630crore for establishment of AIIMS in Jammu Division and sent to Department of Expenditure, Government of India. Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar and Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga laid the foundation stone for construction of approach road to proposed site for AIIMS at Vijaypur on 7th of this month.

Clarifying the status of land acquisition, the Spokesperson said that out of 270.23 acre of land identified for the project 211.04 acre comprises of state and forest land. The state land has been transferred to H&ME Deptt vide G.O. No.110-Rev(S)of 2017 dated 28-04-2017 and the Forest land also has been transferred vide G.O. No. 82-FST of 2017 dated 11-04-2017. For 58.90 acre of Private/Evacuee land final award has been approved by the State Revenue Department. With regard to the issue of encroachment made by 204 Gujjar families, Brig Gupta informed that the issue has been resolved and compensation amount of Rs. 4.63 crore has been sanctioned for these families.

Brig Gupta appealed to the general public that they should not get carried away by the mischievous propaganda unleashed by certain vested parties and have faith in the BJP which has promised holistic development of infrastructure to include health, education, tourism and other public utilities.
