A meeting was taken by Balbir Ram Rattan, Vice-Chairperson, J&K Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited at its Head-Office, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, with regard to the status of all the cases filed by the Corporation before various Courts within the Province of Jammu in which Advocate Koushal Parihar, Standing Counsel for the Corporation, briefed in details the present status of all such cases.
Koushal Parihar appraised the Vice-Chairperson that as on today, approximately 150 cases of the Corporation from Jammu Province are pending before various Courts, which include cases under Section 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act (NIA) and recovery suites. In addition to this, he also apprised the Vice-Chairperson that almost 50 cases have been settled in favour of the SC, ST, BC Development Corporation and recovery has been effected from the defaulters.
Balbir Ram Rattan appreciated the efforts put by the Standing Counsel but simultaneously expressed hope that since the beneficiaries are poor people and all of them shall make an endeavor to repay the loan in regular instalments instead of forcing the Corporation to file litigations, which waste both time and energy of the Corporation and the beneficiaries. He stressed that all the beneficiaries be made aware that regular instalments be paid to avoid Penal Interest.
Balbir Ram Rattan made a fervent appeal to all the loanees of the Corporation to make the judicious use of the money taken by them from the Corporation and make it a regular habit of saving some percentage from their daily earnings so that after the end of the month they are in a comfort position to repay what has been fixed as monthly instalment.
