Located just 500 meters downwards on Jammu Srinagar National Highway, an ignored village Karalana- panchayat Sarbgani, in Banihal Tehsil of Ramban District, has received electricity for the first time.
This has happened with untried efforts of, BJP’s in-charge for Ramban District, Rajeev Charak, who also dedicated the first transformer to the people and electrified the village, which is long pending demands of the inhabitants.
Fallen in Banihal assembly segment, Karalana, the village, is located just 500 meters away on Jammu –Srinagar Highway between Painthal and Khooni Nalha, has over 35 households and a population of 250.
In the winter months, the village witness heavy snowfall and sometimes the mercury plunges to below freezing point here but unfortunately, it was ignored by all successive governments and representatives.
Recently, during a tour the remote areas, people of village apprised Rajeev Charak, in-charge BJP’s Ramban unit, about their long pending problem
Charak took the case with Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh, who is also state’s Power Minister.
“With personal intervention of Dy. CM and untried efforts of Rajeev Charak, power development electrified the village in record three months and enable people to see first light after 70 years of independence,” a local said.
Speaking after inauguration, Charak appreciated the efforts made by the Dy. Chief Minister for taking personal interest in electrifying the village.
People are demanding this since independence but successive governments failed to address this genuine issue, It is all due to efforts of Dr Nirmal Singh that this village near Highway gets electrified” Charak said.
Earlier, Charak conducted extensive tour of Assar, Batote Doda, Kashtigarh, Ramban, Ukhral and adjoining areas for booth level workers meet and listen the grievances of the people of far flung areas.
In a weeklong tour started on 21 December, Charak interacted with large gatherings and where people apprised him about various problems being faced by them.
In his addresses, he said, “Government is steadfast on commitments and promises made to people and is working on the agenda of good governance besides providing basic facilities to the people”.
“Our Government is working to reduce the miseries of common man and in this regard various welfare schemes have been initiated to lessen the miseries of common man and ensure all over development of neglected areas,” he added.
