Follow theme ‘Tobacco – A threat to development’: Yudhvir Sethi

To mark Birth Centenary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya, the state unit of BJP organised a meeting in Jammu today in which Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior Vice President Yudhvir Sethi  said that the theme, Tobacco – A threat to development must be followed vigorously as smoking not only affects individual but also destroys his/her family and threatens development of any nation whose people are more into smoking.

Speaking at the function organised on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day and Centenary celebrations of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya, where Mr Sethi was chief guest, he said that we must resolve to make our society tobacco free. On the occasion, six persons pledged to quit smoking and assured the visiting dignitary that they will help in strengthening the society and set an example of moral values.

Congratulating the people for making welfare committees in different wards, Yudhvir Sethi hoped that the committee members will not only help keep their ward clean and green but will also fight social evils like smoking and contribute in development of their ward in a way. He assured that every possible help would be rendered to develop the ward in all respects and their issues would be taken up with concerned departments and redressed accordingly.

District president Baldev Singh was also present in the occasion who asked mohalla welfare committee members to help in eradicating smoking from the society that kills several people every year. He said that smoking causes cancer and even the companies manufacturing it admit that it’s injurious to health.

Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi said that in order to pay tributes to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay the Central Government had also announced Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana to provide continuous power supply to rural India. Earlier Mr Sethi had Organised Medical Camps in Jammu and some series of philanthropic works to spread message of humanity and peace.

The BJP State Vice President also thanked party Karyakartas (Party workers) who stood by doctors and paramedical staff during various medical camps organised in this connection and for providing all necessary help/aid to the visitors/patients in making the camps as great success
