BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma lauded the approval of Asia’s longest bi-directional Zojila Pass Tunnel expressing it as a boon to the border state of J&K.
Pertinent to mention that Asia’s longest bi-directional Zojila Pass Tunnel is approved by the Union Cabinet at an estimated cost of Rs. 6,089 Crore which will reduce the travel time through Zojila Pass to 15 minutes from the current 3.5 hours.
Sat Sharma, while putting emphasis on the strategic importance of the tunnel thanked the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which gave nod to the 14.2 kms. long tunnel project in the State of Jammu & Kashmir to provide an all weather accessibility to Kargil and Leh which otherwise remained disconnected with the rest of India due to heavy snowfall in majority of months. He also thanked Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for providing with great engineering marvel in the project, which will be inaugurated by PM Modi in this very year.
Sharma said the “Development” is the core agenda of BJP and it is achievable only when there is an easy accessibility to all the remotest regions of the Nation so that every essential commodity can be provided to the general masses irrespective of the environmental or circumstantial hindrances. He said that it will also ease the movement of our Armed Forces along with the public, moreover it will woo the domestic as well as International tourists to visit the area. He said that this will also hasten and strengthen up the socio-economic growth of the region by giving boost to the local markets and increase in the employment generation in the region. BJP has delivered on its commitment towards a long pending genuine demand, he added.
