While raising an important point in the session of Legislative Assembly at Jammu, BJP State President and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) raised the issue of providing an extra amount of relief in the shape of Rupees 5 lakhs for the family of the victims who lost their lives at an accident near Barnai, Domana. He was also supported by other MLA’s who sought an adequate compensation for the victim’s families.
Sharma also stated that though an amount of Rupees fifty thousand has been announced for each victim but he also stated that such an amount will only be able to bear the basic expenses and he appealed to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that an ex gratia amount of Rupees 5 lakhs should be given to the family so that the family could also cope up with other necessities of life as well as they have also lost an earning hand from the family and it will be humanitarian on the part of our Government if we give them an adequate amount of compensation which could help them further and could be used in various forms for coping up with the demands of the family.
He said that such amount could also be given from the funds of Divisional Commissioner and should be released immediately by the Government .
He also showed his concern for the increasing rate of road accidents in the State and suggested that decades have passed but still we don’t have an adequate safe policy for the accident victims or measures which could be adopted so that halt can be placed upon the increasing rate of accidents in the State. He stressed upon building a strong policy for such situations as well so that masses should not suffer.
He also added that any agency in the State (Government or Private) who have been allotted various woks in the State should also focus upon the quality of the works and must make provisions so that people can drive or walk on roads comfortably and the Government must also keep a vigil on them concerning the pace of their works.
