BJP provides Rs one lakh to 1953 martyr family

The Jammu & Kashmir BJP has once again displayed its concern towards the families of the people who have been getting martyrdom for the cause of the nation from time to time in the state, party State President & MLA Sat Sharma, along with State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, State Secretary Adv. Vijay Sharma and other leaders, handed over a cheque of rupees one lakh to Karan Singh, grandson of Bheekham Singh, the martyr of 1953 agitation in Hiranagar.

Sat Sharma, on this occasion, said that although a meager amount of rupees one lakh cannot meet the needs of any family but can prove to be helpful to some extent to make someone invest it to earn livelihood. No amount is enough to compensate for the loss of life nor can it bring back the happiness of the family of the person who get martyrdom but still a humane approach should be adopted and whatever is possible should be done. He said that the party has always been with the martyrs of “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” and other agitations which were launched for the full integration of the state with the rest of the country. He expressed hope that the people who lay down their lives for the cause of nation are not forgotten and the programmes in their memories should be organized on regular basis so that the younger generations get inspiration from the lives of such brave martyrs.

Ashok Kaul said that thousands of people in Jammu province were on roads in 1953 agitation of “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” and voluntarily came forward to laid down precious lives for the honour of the national tricolour. Many youth from Hirnagar, Jourian, Akhnoor and Ramban got bullets while raising the tricolour, which was considered a crime in those days. The nation always remain grateful to such patriots and every nation loving citizen should educate the masses about the supreme sacrifices of 1953 agitation.
