MLA Rajesh Gupta said that civic action and community mobilisation is central to success of Swachh Bharat Mission. He said this while inauguratingShramdaan activity organised by Directorate of Publicity,Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India atSabziMandi, Parade, Jammu in which NSS volunteers from various colleges of Jammu participated. The Shramdaan was organised with the active support of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Shri Gupta said that it is only by committing ourselves individually and collectively to the cause of Swachhtathat a ‘Clean India’ can be build. All agencies of Government, NGOs, youth, political leaders and various sections of society all have to come together for this initiative so that the goals of Swachh Bharat Mission are achieved.
Deputy Director, DFP(J&K Region), Miss NehaJalali while encouraging the volunteers said that keeping public places clean was as important as keeping our homes clean and shramdaan activities like these help in developing and spreading this consciousness. She urged the volunteers to become Swachhta Ambassadors and in taking the message of swachhta and shramdaan to various mohallas of Jammu.
Shri Gupta administered Swachhta pledge to the volunteers and led the cleanliness drive at SabziMandi. The volunteers along with officials and workers cleared area with help of JMC workers. Theme based songs by troupes of Song& Drama Division, Ministry of Information &Broadcasting encouraged the volunteers and created a buzz in the area.
Gandhi Memorial College of Science, ShriPartap Memorial Rajput College of Commerce and Government Ploytechnic College, BikramChowk participated in the shramdaan activity. Over 100 volunteers and Officials and Staff of DFP, S&DD,DAVP and other media units of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting participated in the cleanliness drive.
The Programme was a part of various initiatives being taken by Directorate of Field Publicity and Song and Drama Division of Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in collaboration with Union Ministry of Housing &Urban Affairs for mobilisation and awareness related to Swachhta titled ‘Swachh Bharat AbhiyanSwachh Surveksvan-2018’ that is being organised all over the country from 15th Jan to 15th March.
