Cong exploited OBCs for decades after independence: Sat

BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma (C.A), accompanied by State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, chaired the introductory meeting of the OBC Morcha of the party.

Sat Sharma, while addressing the meeting said that the BJP has achieved the distinction of being largest political party in the world with more than 11 crore members across the country and the contribution of OBCs in reaching this milestone has been appreciable. He said that the Congress during its rule spread over decades after independence only exploited the OBCs and SCs for vote bank politics but was never concerned for their welfare. On the other hand, PM Narendra Modi has launched one scheme after the other for the benefit of these people and it becomes the duty of the party activists in Morchas and Cells of BJP to reach the masses and help them in availing the benefits of such schemes. He said that the OBC morcha should ensure that every pocket housing the population of 27 communities under this category are educated about every scheme launched by Narendra Modi.

Ashok Kaul, in his address, said that our society has a large percentage of the members of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and they have a very important role to play. He said that the BJP is well aware of the problems and needs of the weaker sections, including OBCs and marginalized classes and the party is committed for economic and social upliftment of these sections. He also congratulated the newly nominated team members of the morcha.

OBC Board Vice-Chairperson Rashpal Verma, on this occasion, shared different programmes being undertaken by the board for the benefit of the members of OBC communities in the state and sought suggestions for further streamlining the board so that it is made more accessible to the people.

OBC Morcha State President Murari Lal, while giving details related to the constitution of teams at different levels, said that three districts have been constituted with Kuldeep Balgotra as Jammu District President, Manohar Lal as Samba District President, Bodh Raj Baddan as Kathua District President and Neetu Verma as Jammu Rural District President.

The meeting commenced with observing two minutes silence for the peace of the departed souls of Uri martyrs, followed by presentation of mementos to the dignitaries.

Proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Morcha State General Secretary Brhamjyot and other General Secretary Krishan Kapoor presented vote of thanks.

BJP Morchas Incharge Munish Sharma, OBC Morcha Prabhari Capt. Ramesh Lal, Seh-Prabhari Jagdish Raj Pandey and also addressed the meeting.
