Corporate houses must adopt cricket, soccer players; sponsor their kits: Sh. Yudhvir Sethi

“Premier Leagues Finals”

Bharatiya Janata Party State Vice-President Yudhvir Sethi said that there are thousands of cricket and soccer players besides fans in Kashmir who need patronage and encouragement. The way Kashmir is producing world class cricketers and soccer players, we need to adopt many who cannot afford expensive kits or travel to far off places to train themselves in their respective sports.

Yudhvir Sethi was speaking after giving away prizes amongst winners of cricket tournament finals of two leagues Kandi Premier League and Guhan Premier League held at Guhan, Baramulla today. Friends eleven club lifted the trophy of KPL with super over while Kandi Warrior won GPL by 17 runs. The tournament was organised by BJP Leader Mohd Anwar Khan, general secretary of local unit of BJP and Peace Foundation along with 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR). Yudhvir Sethi was the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi said that corporate houses are needed to adopt if not team some players and completely sponsor their education and sporting activities so that they don’t have to think of anything else other than their game. We are capable of producing world class players for which we have infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir but what is needed is sponsorship for players who can’t afford to go train themselves in better sports academies.

He appreciated local organisers in engaging youth in sporting activities and said that this keeps their mind and body healthy and also provides them platform to display their talent. ‘We need to go beyond these events and sponsor young players abroad so that they get trained in better sports academies and return with sharpened skills”, he said adding that sports build character and enhances physical endurance in youth.

Congratulating the wining team, Yudhvir Sethi said that winning or losing is part of game and hoped that more such matches will be organised to involve youth in more sporting activities. Later, the chief guest distributed prizes amongst winners and runner up team and also awarded players of the match in different categories. Yudhvir Sethi later met party workers and also listened to their demands. Besides Mohd Anwar Khan others present on the occasion were Farida, district president Mahila Morcha, Rubina, district general secretary Mahilla Morcha and Jang Bahadur Singh, Ggurdwara President Guhan.

Sethi asked party workers to strengthen local units and said that more and more youth must be involved to spread message of peace and prosperity. The youth of Kashmir, he said are proving their mettle in all fields including education, sports, business, art, social setup, economic and even politics. This contribution of theirs is not only making fellow citizens proud but also setting examples for next generation to follow and encouraging them to make their presence felt as well. The youth, he added are looking for a big change and that cannot happen without their contribution.
