Shri Daljit Singh Chib, Vice Chairman, (Minister of State) J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans visited Paddy Procurement Centres at Pragwal and other places of Akhnoor.
He was satisfied with the progress of procurement in the pragwal paddy procurement Centre as he was told that so far 20 thousand quintals of paddy has been procured and the process is going on.He directed the FCI and Agriculture officers to speed up the process of procurement in all the procurement centres in Jammu Province.
The Vice Chairman advised the farmers that they should sell their produce directly to food Corporation of India (FCI) as Govt. has fixed Minimum Support Price for Paddy @Rs. 1510/- per quintals and they should avail this facility and should not sell their produce in distress sale. He further stated that the establishment of procurement centers have helped the farmers as they used to go through a lot of hardships to sell their produce at appropriate prices. He said that FCI is providing them an opportunity to get maximum return of their harvest to stop the monopoly of the brokers.
He further said that new procurement policy is a farmer friendly programme to have easy access to the Government established procurement Centres at a very close distance. He said that our state has successfully introduced the mechanism of procurement so that farmers can be encouraged to carry on with the agriculture activities and get maximum returns due to pro farmer policies of the Government.
The prominent members and progressive farmers were also present at that moment i.e Sarpanch Shamsher Singh, Nasib Singh of Mola, Daljit Singh, Bupinder Singh,Avtar Singh and Vijay paul Sharma.
