Daljit Singh Chib went to Border District of Poonch where a large gathering was present at Loran Mandi of District Poonch

Daljit Singh Chib, (Minister of State), Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, went to Border District of Poonch where a large gathering was present at Loran Mandi of District Poonch. A threadbare discussion was held with the progressive farmers of that District and they also submitted a memorandum to the Hon’ble Vice Chairman.

ShriChib said that Kisan Advisory Board has recently conducted a Mega KisanMelaon 22nd of September, 2016 inDistrict Poonch , where the farmers of the far-flung areas of the District were present. He impressed upon the farming community to use new and innovative agriculture technology to increase their agriculture growth. They said that it is the time of hybrid and a farmer should use the hybrid seeds so that they can generate and increase their income.

As demanded by the progressive farmers the climate of the Kashmir is similar to that of the Poonch District and there is a high potential of potatocrops. They demanded that the seed for the Potato should come from the Gulmarg Area of Kashmir Division which has been very successful in this area. Secondly they demanded that Garlic has got a very high potential in this District and requested that seed for the same be available in this District in advance so that there will be no shortage of that.

The progressive farmers said that this region being a cold and hilly andthere is very high potential of herbs and requested the Vice Chairman to provide us technical knowhow and the material so that our farming community will take maximum benefit through this scheme.

ShriDaljit Singh Chib said that the demands put forth by the progressive farmers will be fulfilled very shortly. He said that potato seed of Gulmarg area will be available to them and in this regard he will take up the matter with the Director Agriculture Kashmir  so that there will be no shortage of the seed. The Garlic seeds will be available to them in advance and he said that hewill shortly call a meeting with the SKUAST-Jammu so that a team of experts who have a full knowledge of herbs will be deputed to this District and will provide all technical and financial support for this.
