During the District Development Board meeting at Jammu different issues were raised by various MLAs, MLCs. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Madam Mehbooba Mufti. While Ramesh Arora MLC focused many issues of public importance and were duly responded, acknowledged and decision were taken for implementing the same by Chief Minister and concerned were directed to do the needful.

In response to a suggestion made by MLC Ramesh Arora that before holding board meetings an exercise be conducted by Deputy Commissioner before preparation of plan and allocation of funds for Various projects MLA and MLC concerned be taken into confidence. Mahbooba Mufti and finance minister appreciated and took decision this practice is beneficial in the interest of public.

Arora said that there must be responsibility fixed and duty be assigned to senior officers to remove encroachment on the banks of Tawi river and in response to the same Madam Mufti directed the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pawan Kotwal to remove the encroachments.

Arora said that Bikram chowk where JKSRTC is located be shifted and the same place was railway station prior to 1935 and same be handed over to heritage department for maintaining the same as heritage property along with railway station building at R S Pura encroached by local. In response to this CM directed DC Jammu to remove the encroachment from R S Pura and also directed Madam Priya Sethi the Honorable minister to work out plan to declare this portion as heritage.

Ramesh Arora suggested that B C road be widened and road from army area be constructed as alternative road from Manda to High court and culminating at Janipur to reduce the traffic pressure and CM was kind enough to directed the R&B department to start working on this proposal and same be done in a time bound manner.

That it was further suggested by Ramesh Arora that army be shifted from the adjoining area of Karan Nagar, Jammu University, Ammunition depot Narwal and Nagrota to some other place because initially they were on the outskirts of the city and with the passage of time it became part of the city and if we have to develop a smart city this is the prime requirement. CM assured in the board meeting that she will take up the matter with the all concerned.

Arora further suggested that initial cost of Chenab water lift system for providing drinking water and water for irrigation was made many years back and initial expenses were calculatedly as 167 crore now have reached revised project up to 670 crore but still no progress has been made, he requested CM to appoint senior officer and take up mater with centre as has been done in Jhelum irrigation water lift scheme in Srinagar which started many years after the proposal of Chenab water lift scheme was made and the same is providing drinking water to two districts in Kashmir. CM directed PHE department to depute a senior person who will take up matter with centre government.

Arora demanded appointment of Physics lecturer at Alla (Bishnah) because there is no lecturer since last two years and students studying Physics subject has already suffered huge loss. CM directed Director Education to provide lecturer physics within one week.

While further demanding in public interest Mr. Arora said that 5% VAT is illegally charged by corporation to other hospitals and at the same time VAT is not charged and supplied to medical college which is illegal. Madam CM directed Commissioner Secretary Health that such type of practice cannot be tolerated as it gives bad name to government it should be taken seriously and action be taken.

Arora said that Dogra samarak was constructed near Karan nagar and he has personally approached Municiplity and UEED and estimate was prepared to cover the drain and after covering floriculture department should take up the park for development. CM directed the UEED Commissioner to do the needful in a short span.

Arora also raised the issue of total fencing at Bohr camp the place which was meant for tulip garden and fencing was proposed by the govt department in 256 kanal instead of 560 kanal of land. CM directed the Floriculture department that needful be done as early as possible.

Arora further said NBCC and ERA has already delayed sewerage project for years together should be directed to complete the project in shortest span of time. CM directed the NBCC authorities that in one and a half year they should complete the whole process of giving connection to all houses and in response to it NBCC officials assured CM that they will complete it at war footing within the time given.

Arora requested CM that our employment exchange is not functioning properly as 12400 unemployed youth are registered and only 91 skilled unemployed are registered it reflects inefficiency. In response to this demand Mahbooba Mufti directed all MLA MLC to form self help group of unemployed youth and get them registered so that they earn their livelihood.

Arora further said that he has reconstructed very old historical ancient well at Domana but the name of the same was not incorporated in the report of Deputy Commissioner. He further said it is time to use modern technology and ponds be taken up with use of Geomembrane because of its longevity and is more than the conventional one. It was agreed by the Rural development department who assured for the same to be taken up hence forth.

Likewise many other demands were also discussed and resolved with the direction to the concerned authorities and CM further stressed to complete all activities as assured to MLC Ramesh Arora in a time bound manner.
