Says Govt committed to provide basic amenities to people
The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh visited Gurez and Tanghdar in Bandipora and Kupwara districts to take stock of the pace of work on the hydroelectric projects and also met several delegations of people there.
While inspecting the pace of work on 330 MW Kishenganga hydroelectric project being constructed by the NHPC at Gurez in Bandipora district, the Deputy Chief Minister called for speeding up the pace of work on the prestigious power project which would supplement the power generation in the state and also provide the necessary augmentation of the electric supply to Jammu and Kashmir. He said the executing agencies should synergize their efforts and hold regular meetings with the other concerned departments so that it is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
While interacting with the delegation lead by Deputy Speaker Mr Nazir Gurezi, Deputy Chief Minister directed concerned to expedite rehabilitation of the affected families so that they do not face any inconvenience. He said the government is committed for ensuring proper rehabilitation of the people who have got dislocated due to the construction of the prestigious power project.
Dr Singh also assured the delegation of speeding up the work for providing power to various un-electrified villages of Gurez and Tulail. He said a comprehensive program under DDUJGY is being undertaken so that all un-electrified hamlets and villages are provided electricity.
Commissioner Secretary PDD Mr Dhiraj Gupta, Managing Director JKSPDC Dr Shah Faesal, and District Development Commissioner Bandipora Sajad Hussain were also present on the occasion.
The Deputy Chief Minister later visited Karnah in Kupwara district to inspect the pace of work on 12 MW Hydroelectric Project coming up under Prime Ministers’ Development program at Gundishat. He directed for early completion of the prestigious power project.
Dr Singh also interacted with several deputations of the area lead by MLA Raja Manzoor and assured that the government is committed to provide the requisite basic facilities to the people of the state especially those living in rural and far flung areas. He said several flagship programs have been undertaken in different sectors like RDD, PDD, Urban Development, Health which have been instrumental in changing the socio-economic landscape of the areas.
The Deputy Chief Minister also assured the people who have got dislocated on the account of implementation of the hydroelectric power project that adequate measures would be taken for their appropriate rehabilitation
MLA Karnah Raja Manzoor Ahmad, MLC Javaid Ahmad Mirchal, Commissioner Secretary PDD Mr Dhiraj Gupta, Managing Director JKSPDC Dr Shah Faesal, and District Development Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister.
Later the Deputy Commissioner apprized the Deputy Chief Minister about the status of ongoing developmental scenario in the area under which road connectivity, drinking water, health facilities, rural developmental works, connectivity, stocking of essentials commodities, civil supplies and functioning of different departments some issues were also discussed thread barely during the discussions in the meeting.
Deputy CM also inspected ongoing developmental projects in the area and enquired about the status of the works. He directed the concerned authorities to complete the ongoing projects in a stipulated time for commission the same to the public for availing the facilities at their door steps. The implementing and executing agencies were asked to involve the local elected representatives while formulating the plans under various welfare and developmental schemes.
