Reviews status of project with JDA, SRFDCL
Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh said the Tawi River Front Development project is a prestigious project for the government as well as for the people of Jammu asking the executing agencies to start the work at the earliest.
Dr Singh said this while chairing a review meeting regarding various aspects of the project with the officers of Urban Development Department, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) and the representatives of Sabarmati River Front Development Corporation Ltd (SRFDCL) who are the Management Consultants for the project, here today.
Commissioner-Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Hirdesh Kumar, Vice-Chairman JDA, Mubarak Singh, Consultant SRFDCL, R R Parikar, Deputy General Manager Technical SRFDCL V K Thakkar and other officers attended the meeting.
While reviewing the status of the project, the Deputy Chief Minister sought details from JDA and SRFDCL regarding the steps taken so far for the execution of the project.
Officers of SRFDCL informed the Deputy Chief Minister that the work on preparation of technical and other reports is under process and soon they will submit the final report to JDA.
Vice-Chairman JDA also briefed the meeting about the present status of the project and said that JDA is in constant touch with SRFDCL and is working on remaining data collection process for the project including technical and other aspects.
Dr Singh asked the representatives of SRFDCL to expedite the process and submit the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and final design of the project at the earliest so that it will be forwarded to the Union Ministry of Water Resources and River Development, New Delhi for funding.
The overall objective of the project is to provide high quality River Training and Flood Protection Infrastructure to increase the safety of the Jammu city infrastructure and properties.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed the hope that team of SRFDCL would help give an expert and new touch to the development of Tawi River Front.
In order to develop Tawi River Front on the pattern of Sabarmati River Front, the MoU was signed between Jammu Development Authority (JDA) and Sabarmati River Front Development Corporation Ltd (SRFDCL), Ahmadabad.
The pilot project area under the Tawi River Front Development project is the stretch of 3.5 km between the Fourth Tawi Bridge and Sher-e- Kashmir Bridge on both the banks in the city of Jammu.
