Reviews contingence plan for evacuation of borders residents
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today chaired a high level meeting to review the contingence plan put in place for evacuation of border residents in the district in wake of tension on LoC.
Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Shabir Bhat and IGP Jonny Williams while appraising the chair about the arrangements, said that around fifty safe places have been identified for shifting people from border areas with adequate arrangements.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner to issue an advisory about Do’s and Don’ts to be followed by the people of border areas in case of border firing. He further directed civil administration to strictly follow Standard Operating Procedure for evacuating people from border areas.
Later, Deputy Chief Minister visited Seri, Bajbain, Tanda Kangri, Manpur, Kalsian and Laroksa villages of Sunderbani and Nowshera areas and interacted with locals.
MLA Nowshera, Ravinder Raina, MLC Vibodh Gupta accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during the visit.
While inspecting various places identified for setting up camps, Deputy Chief Minister directed to concerned officers to ensure that all basic facilities are provided to the people in these camps.
The Deputy Chief Minister stressed on close coordination among all concerned departments to ensure that people are provided with all the basis facilities in these camps and they should not face any problem during this tough time.
The PHE department was directed to make necessary arrangement to ensure uninterrupted water supply to these camps, while PDD was asked to make suitable alternate arrangements for power supply especially during night to avoid any inconvenience to the people.
He directed the concerned officers of food and civil supplies department to ensure adequate supply of ration and other essentials to the inmates in the camps.
Meanwhile, locals of the area also presented various demands to the Deputy Chief Minister and he assured to take necessary steps for meeting the demands.
Deputy Chief Minister also appealed the people to maintain peace and amity and appealed them to cooperate with the security agencies, civil administration which is taking adequate steps for ensuring their safety.
Dy CM also visited Lam area of Nowshera and addressed locals present in large number. Locals expressed faith on government and assured their full support and cooperation. It was informed to the people that control rooms have been set up by police authorities.
