Reiterating that the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir is committed for the empowerment of women through their social and economic upliftment, Minister of State for Education & Tourism, Priya Sethi, said that a number of schemes have been launched during the last over two years for their benefits.
Priya Sethi said this while interacting with the female students of Tailoring & Cutting courses in a government run Centre in Old city. She said that the present government of PDP-BJP coalition is in power for the last over two years now and various schemes initiated by it have been designed with the sole objective of making women socially and economically empowered so that they have not to depend on others but are in a position to earn their own livelihood with honour and dignity.
“In cutting and tailoring courses, every centre admits 25 females for a particular period, provides monthly stipend of rupees 250 per student, makes them technically expert in their line on completion of course and they even become eligible for availing the benefit under PM Entrepreneur scheme” Priya said and added that there are numerous similar schemes which are helping the women to have own mean of livelihood.
Priya Sethi said that the government has fulfilled the twenty years old demand of enhancing widow pension from 200 to one thousand. This year the Social Welfare Department has simplified the procedure for pension with no need for the applicant to take rounds of DC office or keep searching local Patwari for getting forwarded their cases.
The Minister also released pensions to the widows of the area,
distributed citation awards to parents who have girl child and honoued as ambassadors of the society. She also distributed financial assistance to the beneficiaries of NFBS, in which women who do not have an earning member are given Rs 20000 each.
She said that ‘Beti Bacha Beti Padao’ is widely hailed scheme. All the schemes lead to the upliftment of the less privileged part of the society
and it has strengthened the confidence of poor and needy women that the present government is really committed to the women empowerment. Today, we can claim that PM Modi’s vision of empowering women and the schemes of state government are reaching at the ground level and have started bearing fruits.
State Vice President BJP Yudhvir Sethi, Jammu East MLA Rajesh Gupta, other leaders of party including Baldev Singh Billawaria, Anil Masoom, Prof. Sham Gupta, Neeru Anand, Monika Khosla, Saroj Gupta, Sharda Devi, Sunita Anand, Satish Kumar, Rakesh and others were also present on the occasion.
