“Swachhata-hi-Sewa” cleanliness drive in Gangyal
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Vice President Yudhvir Sethi said that in order to accelerate efforts of achieving universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on sanitation drives, each and every individual besides government offices, members of civil society, NGOs, corporate houses, industries, educational institutions and even hawkers must get involved in the mission of “Swachhata hi Sewa” and make our country clean and green.
Yudhvir Sethi was speaking after completing cleanliness drive in Gangyal and Digiana Park launched by district committee of BJP led by District President BJP Baldev Singh Baloria here today. Director floriculture besides official of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and local people also joined Yudhvir Sethi in cleaning parks by picking up waste, sweeping footpaths, cleaning flower beds and also cleaning entrances of parks by using brooms. The drive was highly appreciated by locals who also pledged to maintain park in future as well.
Encouraging locals to stay involved in this drive and make it a continuous process, Yudhvir Sethi said Swachhata hi Sewa is a target given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which must e achieved by 2019 and this is going to be a fitting tribute to the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, which in rural areas shall mean improving the levels of cleanliness in rural areas as well.
He said that Prime Minister of India had launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 2nd October, 2014. He hoped that with collective efforts of people, India will become a clean and green country by next few years.
Speaking on the occasion district president Baldev Singh Baloria informed that BJJP local units intends top undertake various activities under Swachhata hi Sewa for the upliftment and development of our city. He also urged local people to adopt the concept of clean and green city and act accordingly. He thanked Yudhvir Sethi and officials for their support and cooperation for the successful completion of this cleanliness drive.
After the awareness programme, all participated in the cleanliness drive in and around the park and playground area. He also talked on Swachhata hi Sewa and Role of Community and asked local to not to litter anywhere. The JMC officials were also asked to encourage door to door collection for maintain cleanliness of the area.
Others present on the occasion include Director Floriculture Babila Rakwal, Mandal Pardhan Harbans Choudhary, Jyoti Parkash Sharma, Paramjeet Singh, Reena Slathia and other officials of the Floriculture department.
