“Assures full support for making Punjabi a compulsory Subject”
Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, kavinder Gupta visited Barjala, Warehouse, Fourth Tawi Bridge, Narwal and Chatha; took stock of the developmental works in the area.
The Speaker was accompanied by SDM, South, Sonu Pargal, Xen PWD(R&B), Rajan Mengi, AEE’s PWD(R&B), Rafiq Sheikh & Manoj Kumar; officials of JKPCC, PDD, PHE, Rural Development and prominent political & social activists.
He inspected the blacktopping work of the roads leading to fourth tawi bridge along with the restoration works of the bridge.
The Speaker directed the officers to complete the works in hands before the start of Baba Amarnath Ji yatra as this link will be frequently used by commuters during the yatra period.
He said that the government is making all out efforts to provide basic amenities at the door step of the people across the state.
The Speaker was speaking after inaugurating the work for laying of water pipeline at Brahmana Mohalla Narwal; the locals appreciated the efforts of the speaker in addressing their grievances.
He informed the people that all roads of the area will be macadamized in the coming months and the projects have been sanctioned under NABARD, CRF and other development schemes of central & state government.
He further said that the power infrastrurture of chatha, Gadhigarh, Bhor Camp, Barjala and other panchayat areas has seen a massive improvement as the maximum of the worn out LT/HT cables have been replaced in addition to upgradation of transformers.
Later, a delegation of people belonging to Sikh community called on the Speaker and projected few demands pertaining to the completion of Punjabi Lekhak Sabha at Rani Talab, Digiana and introduction of Punjabi language as compulsory subject upto higher secondary level in schools.
The Speaker informed the delegation that an amount of Rs 5 Lakhs has already been sanctioned through his CDF for completing the civil works of Punjabi Lekhak Sabha and assured his full support for introducing the Punjabi language in the compulsory subjects list of JKBOSE.
