BJP former State President & MLC Ashok Khajuria, along with BJP Youth leader Karan Singh and Ex-Corporator Sanjay Mahey, inaugurated a multi-purpose Community Hall in the premises of ancient Billu Mandir in Panjtirthi area of Old city in presence of a large number of people drawn from different areas of Jammu Old city and the party activists.
Ashok Khajuria, on this occasion, said that the project was approved and sanctioned long back and funds for the construction of this hall were sanctioned and work initiated during his previous tenure as MLA of Jammu East Constituency. He said that Billu Mandir is an ancient place and has very historical significance. He said that the premises of Billu Mandir has been hub of various religious and social activities for more than hundred years now and still remains the best choice for the people of the area to utilize it for different occasions related to family functions and rituals besides it has remained a famous place for staging of Ram Leela.
“Billu Mandir has been a very convenient location and hence is more popular among the people and hence adding a modern and well equipped multi-purpose community hall will obviously serve as one of the best venue for various social, cultural and religious events” Ashok Khajuria said and assured the management of Billu Mandir that if needed, more works of construction can also be undertaken in near future so that it becomes a real hall to serve many purposes.
Karan Singh, while expressing gratitude to the MLC for taking keen interest in development of the Billu Mandir and said that the premises of this historic complex has always got the attention of the leaders like Ashok Khajuria and expressed hope that the newly constructed hall will prove to be of greater help to the people of the city. He further said that the community hall will also be useful for the adjoining stage of Saraswati Dramatic Club, where Ram Leela has been staged since 1936.
