To mark the occasion of World Water Day on Nehru Yuva Kendar Rajouri celebrated the day at its Office in Jawaha Nagar. Coordinator Nehru Yuva kendar Rayaz Ahmed Mir said that World Water Day is an annual event celebrated . The day focuses attention on the importance of fresh water and advocates for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.MLC Vibodh Gupta who was chief guest on the occasion urged the people to save every drop of the crucial resource and praised the UN for choosing ‘wastewater’ as its theme.
On this day Gupta call upon everyone in Rajouri, lets pledge to save every drop of water. As water is a very precious resource and we must relaise the importance of each drop of water.
He further said that Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater. In 2015, World Water Day has the theme “Water and Sustainable Development”.In 2016, the theme is “Water and Jobs,” in 2017 “Wastewater” and in 2018 “Nature-based Solutions for Water”.
He further said that,Water is essential for each and every living being for the building block of life. Therefore, United Nation organization this year has set the theme “Why Wastewater?” in order to reduce and reuse as over 80% of all the wastewater from our homes, cities, industry and agriculture flows back to nature polluting the environment and losing valuable nutrients and other recoverable materials. He also lauded the efforts of United Nations for choosing a theme wastewater which will help further awareness on water recycling and why it is essential for our planet.
He also stressed on national and international water cooperation for survival of mankind. He also suggested implementation of rain water harvesting, as a good quantum of water gets wasted before it is made to use. He urged upon the participants to save fresh water bodies from getting polluted and misused.
