The martyrdom of Kuldeep Verma during Amarnath land row of 2008 acted as an eye opener for Dogras and gave a new leash of life to the agitation fought for pride of entire region, said BJP State President & MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma, who was speaking on the sidelines of a “Shradhanjali Smaroh” along with the “Havan” done by BJP at its District Office, Kachi Chawni. District President Ayodhya Gupta, Vice-Chairperson JAKFED Munish Sharma, State President Mahila Morcha Purnima Sharma, Senior Leader Chander Mohan Sharma along with other party leaders and activists as well as wife Shilpi Verma and son Anmol Verma of Martyr Kuldeep Verma were present during the entire programme.
Sat Sharma, while addressing the large gathering, said that martyr Kuldeep Verma was a hero of 2008 agitation and his sacrifice prompted every single, whether old or young one, man or woman to come out of their homes, leaving their routine affairs behind in the entire Jammu region. He said that his sacrifice for the cause of Jammu gave rise to the series of events, due to which the agitation was able to touch the zenith of resistance. He appealed to the Civil Society and BJP activists to follow his footsteps. His sacrifice awoke the old valor and pride of Dogra culture to fight for truth and justice, he added.
Ayodhya Gupta said that the BJP is committed to stand by the side of all those who are willing to fight for the Nation and Society. He said that the martyrdom of Kuldeep Verma has reemphasized the need to follow the path of struggle for existence to Jammuites. He said that we all must always remember his supreme and selfless sacrifice.
Chander Mohan Sharma, while remembering Shaheed Kuldeep Sharma, said that no Jammuite must ever forget the principles and sentiments which inspired him to lay down his life. He said that the agitation of 2008 was fought for two things, first was the attack on faith and the second was perpetual discrimination against Jammu.
Shilpi Verma said that the true homage to Shaheed Kuldeep Verma can be paid by respecting his principles. She said that his sacrifice laid the foundation of great struggle ahead for the redemption of pride of Jammu. Families of all martyrs must be taken care of with utmost respect, she added.
A book, written by well known author Ved Rahi was also released by Sat Sharma. Book is named as “Anant” and based on life events of martyr Kuldeep Verma which laid the ground for his intense patriotic feelings leading to his supreme sacrifice.
