With the unsavoury slur of a MP against tall woman leader of stature resounding, the question bothering mind repeatedly is : How is a girl child safe with a parliamentarian disrespecting woman that too when PM raising the pitch exhorted nation: Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
The atrocious, vicious and ghastly smear from MP Dayashanker Singh against a tall ‘dalit’ woman leader Mayawati, four times CM of UP state, renders the girl child as vulnerable as before no matter strenuous movement launched nationwide under the programme, said S.S. Bijral, a retired IGP and state spokesperson of BJP. He said anything shall come to be valued only when its respected and the value then lasts long.
Bijral said in a country warned by UNO as passing through an emergency situation due to sharply falling Child Sex Ratio (CSR) , the derogatory comments of a parliamentarian deserve the strongest condemnation being belittling for a holistic programme like BBBP. Leaders, the spokesperson said are to be role models for correcting the path of those led and strayed and not to lead astray those corrected.
The ex-cop who is also the state convener of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme slammed the incident as most unfortunate. He fervently appealed to fellow citizens of state of which 9 districts are declared critical due to falling CSR to join heads and hands to check the slide in the no. of girls per one thousand boys by affording protection to girl child through duly respecting women following words of UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon : “ Violence against women and girls will not be eradicated until all of us-men & boys- refuse to tolerate it.”
