Union MoS Dr Jitendra Singh has asked the J&K State Government to expedite the Centrally funded works.
Addressing a public meeting in the peripheral area of Pancheri, district Udhampur, falling under Chenani Assembly Constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh lamented that the execution work is either not taken off or is too slow in many of the roads approved under PMGSY (“Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana”) or Central Road Funds (CRF). He said, the road to Pancheri, for example, continues to be poorly maintained and even after a brief rainfall, it suffers from blockage.
Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed that the PMGSY project road from Kainth-Gali to Landar is under process, whereas the road from Udhampur to Gordy was approved under CRF over one year ago, but the execution of works on these projects is delayed.
Under the Modi Government in the last three years, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the biggest ever fund of Rs. 2800 crores was approved for PMGSY roads and most of the pending road projects under CRF were cleared. However, considering the slow pace of work, he has told the administration to complete all these projects before the completion of the present Lok Sabha term in 2019.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, even in the Udhampur district, some of the landmark and historic projects were approved by the Modi Government which, for example, include Rs.170 crore Devika River Cleaning Project and Radio Station for Udhampur and hoped that the State Government is quick in its response to this liberal support from the Center.
In response to a popular demand, Dr Jitendra Singh approved construction of a community hall at Pancheri from his MPLAD fund. He said, the proposal for Kendriya Vidyalaya, after the identification of land and endorsement by the State Government, should be forwarded so that it can be duly followed-up at the Centre.
