Ganpati Visarjan Shobha Yatra taken out from Panjtirthi
Devotees of Mubarak Mandi Temple at Panjtirthi led by BJP State Vice President Yudhvir Sethi along with local residents today bid adieu to Bappa, who was a guest at the temple since Ganesh Chaturthi. BJP MLC Ashok Khajuria was also present and performed prayers before going in for idol immersion at river Tawi. In a simple yet impressive Shobha Yatra the devotees first performed rituals and then with much fanfare immersed Ganesha idol to culminate Ganesh Pooja.
Yudhvir Sethi also performed Ganesh Pooja (Prayers) at.Mubrak Mandi. and prayed for peace and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir State. Speaking on the occassion, Yudhvir Sethi said Ganeshotsav is one of the most colourful and exciting 10-day long celebrations which the people of Jammu have started celebrating since past few decades with much fanfare. This faith of people, he said bringns in festivity in air for ten days every year.
Commemoration of Lord Ganpati’s birthday every year, he added strengthens the moral bonding amongst people of different faith and religion and the festival also helps many artisans earn their living. “This is also the festival that celebrates the homecoming of Lord Ganesh as he leaves Mount Kailasha and enters our homes to bless us with happiness and prosperity”, he said.
Yudhvir Sethi informed that it was after public appeal in 19th century by Indian freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak that people started gathering in the name of Ganesh Pooja to defy British Government ban on Hindu gatherings. Ever since then the festival is being celebrated with much fanfare. Today’s impressive Shoba Yatra of Ganpati Maharaj was taken out with fervor and gaiety in from Panjtirthi and after passing through Radio Station Chowk it culminated at River Tawi where the idol was immersed with rituals. Elaborate arrangements were made by the authorities for the yatra and traffic was diverted from other routes for smooth passage of shobha yatra.
During the 10-day festival, devotees performed puja at the temples and had beautifully decorated ‘pandal’ where Ganesha idol was installed. Devotes from Panjtirthi, Upper Bazar, Mubarak Mandi and Kachi Chawni had gathered at the site to bid adieu to Ganesh Kaharaj. MLC Ashok Khajuria also appreciated the management for organising the festival with true spirit and prayed for peace for the state.
