PM to dedicate Chenani-Nashri Tunnel to public on Sunday: Yudhvir Sethi

State vice-President Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Yudhvir Sethi  urged people to converge at Udhampur in large numbers to witness opening of Chenani-Nashri Tunnel and listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic address to the nation. He was speaking to a gathering after inaugurating water coolers at Panjtirthi and appealed them to stand witness to this engineering marvel on April 2, 2017 at Udhampur.
Sensing approaching summers and need of providing potable water to pedestrians, children and passerby besides local shopkeepers, Yudhvir Sethi got water coolers installed at Panjtirthi. This he said will help people drink quality potable water during summers. Speaking on the occasion, Sethi said both state as well as central governments are sensitive to people’s needs and are doing their best to fulfil their even smallest of basic necessities.
He said that once Chenani-Nashri Tunnel is thrown open for public, the state economy and tourism sector will get a fillip. He said that ahead of this tunnel there are still more tunnels and highest bridges which are also nearing completion. This all weather road connectivity of all three regions of Jammu and Kashmir, he said will help maintain civil and defence supplies, enable tourists to enjoy all weather conditions and boost economy of traders and shopkeepers who remain cut off from rest of the world during peak winters.
Urging people of Panjtirthi and all others to come and visit the site on April 2, 2017 the BJP Vice President informed them that they will be standing a witness to historic event of opening of Asia’s longest bidirectional Rs 2519 Crore Chenani-Nashri tunnel, Yudhvir Sethi said that this is going to be ‘lifeline’ of Jammu and Kashmir State’s surface transport network. He added that this tunnel will reduce time travel by two hours, help conserves forests, save fuel and will be an all weather route for the benefit of trade and travel purposes.
The liberal funding from Centre and sincerest efforts of state government, Yudhvir Sethi said will enable massive development without any prejudice. He said the state government for the first time in the history is working without any prejudice and giving equal opportunities of prosperity to people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Chenani-Nashri tunnel, he said is one such project which is protected by world class security system, is 9.35 Kms having parallel escape tunnel, cross passage and an integrated traffic contol system for the safety of users.
