State BJP spokesperson Prof. Virender Gupta while commenting on the statements made by Gulam Nabi Azad in his recent visit to Jammu said that Mr. Azad is hoodwinking the people and trying to exploit the victims affected during the heavy firing from the Pakistan side on the borders. He said that the decision to construct bunkers for the villagers residing nearby the borders and providing them plots for seeking shelters during the firing were taken about ten years back when Congress Party was in power both at the centre and in the State, but it did nothing in this direction. He reminded Azad of his speeches made during the subsequent elections, particularly in 2002 and 2008 in the state for treating the people residing near the International Border with those putting up near the LOC and his concern about the West Pakistan refugees and promising to address their grievances by issuing permanent state subject in their favour. He questioned Azad about his achievements against his promises and said particularly, when he remained chief minister of the state. He added that during his chief minister ship his role on the Shri Amarnath land row remained quite controversial when his actions divided the people of Jammu region and those of Valley on communal and regional lines and whole of the administration became paralyzed because of the people’s aggressive resentment and massive protests.
On his remarks that Modi Government lacks policy on Kashmir and that Prime Minister was focusing on International Issues and ignoring concerns of the country, particularly with regard to Jammu and Kashmir and border security situation, the spokes persons said that it is because of the International Policy of the present Government that Pakistan has been completely isolated in the world forum and world powers consider it as haven of terrorism. He added that when enemy is forcing a war like situation, there is no option for the Government at the centre to give it a befitting reply and that is what Modi Government is doing. “The forces have been given free hand to deal the situation both on the borders and also internally against the proxy war of Jihad launched by the enemy and there is no option for the government who so ever be in the power” Prof. Virender Said. He further added that for restoring the confidence of the people of the state the government has taken number of steps, apart from pursuing people friendly policies, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister visited the state number of times to interact with the people and assess the situation at the ground level, and the Centre Government has appointed interlocutor to approach the concern groups on its behalf. The spokesperson commented that the Congress Party who remained in power for the most of years at the centre and at present is the main opposition party, needs to shed its negative attitude to everything that the Government does and asked it instead of adopting a positive approach to deal with the situations that the nation is facing.
