M.L.A R.S Pura Dr.Gagan Bhagat chaired a meeting at Village Phinder on the agenda of “ Community Participation in Swachh Bharat Mission to make it a ‘Jan Andolan’ in R.S Pura. The meeting was organised jointly by Office of the M.L.A R.S Pura and B.D.O Office R.S Pura, Miran Sahib.On the occasion, Dr.Gagan said that with the participation and involvement of all the stakeholders, the SBM would transform rapidly into a full-scale ‘Jan Andolan’ of citizens. He said that, in R.S Pura, there are different culture, different tradition, different languages and different habits, which poses a huge challenge in communicating to the masses. He said that the meetings like this one would help to share ideas, experiences and also to know the good practices which would help to bridge the gaps in SBM, and this meeting will be followed by a series of similar meetings across the R.S Pura Constituency in different villages & Panchyats to make aware the people advantages of constructing toilets at their home which will ultimately make the constituency to archive first ever O.D.F Constituency of Jammu & Kashmir.Dr.Gagan Bhagat further said that that some of the initiatives, such as the Swachh Survekshan, thematic drives with citizen participation, engaging students Bhartiya Janta Party workers, office bearers and Self-Help Groups to be the drivers and change agents for social behavior change, engaging nearly 200 swachhagrahis across the R.S Pura Constituency to motivate communities to stop open defecation, intensive PR and social media campaigns being run continuously to engage with citizens of R.S Pura Constituency to trigger and sustain their motivation to participate in cleanliness drives, reinforces the fact that citizens are becoming active participants. The Legislator maintained that along with these initiatives, the creation of infrastructure is also important, be it the construction of individual and community and public toilets, facilitate waste processing into value-added products, setting up technology-enabled collection and transportation systems for solid waste, setting up waste-to-compost and waste-to-energy plants for waste processing. Prior to the meeting Dr.Gagan Bhagat was also welcomed by the Party workers and office bearers at the party office R.S Pura where a function was organized to celebrate the landslide victory of Bhartiya Janta party in the U.P Polls along with getting special 1 Crore funds for the developmental works for the R.S Pura Constituency by Dr.Gagan from the C.M Mehbooba Mufti in the District Development meeting of Jammu District for second time, the first one was in 2015 D.D Board meeting. Later development works in Ward No.11, and Ward No.6 was also started by Dr.Gagan Bhagat worth Rs.13 Lacs which was a long pending demand of the local inhabitants.Rs.10 Lacs was given to the P.D.D for replacing worn out and damaged conductors and poles. People thanked Dr.Gagan Bhagat for completing the years long demand of the area, which were not taken care of by the previous N.C-Congress govt. despite several requests. Dr.Gagan Bhagat later on visited Radha Krishan Temple at Village Phinder to participate in the “Sthapana Diwas” of the temple, where the Mandir Committee welcomed Dr.Gagan Bhagat, while addressing the devotees he said that he will give funds from C.D.F to construct a community hall in the village , which will benefit the poor people who do not have funds to hire a Banquet hall for the marriage or other ceremonies.
