BJP State President and MLA from Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) on Thursday paid tributes to Late Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, founder President of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, who was arrested at the Punjab–J&K Border at Madhopur and was jailed in Kashmir, and under mysterious circumstances he died. The tributes were paid during the ongoing session of Legislative Assembly in Srinagar.
Sat Sharma further said that BJP, who is a coalition partner in the State Government, today has reached this place due to the sacrifices made by great leaders like Mookerjee and other leaders of the party who have been continuously fighting for the rights of the people for more than six decades.
Sharma was supported by all the legislators of the party. He also demanded a judicial probe into the death of veteran Jan Sangh leader so that mystery which has not been unfolded for years be brought in front of the people.
Pertinent to mention, it is for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir that tributes are being paid to the great leader of Bharatiya Jana Sangh in Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir. There are total of 25 elected MLAs of BJP and some of them are Ministers in the present coalition Government of the State.
